What is the job that Hooper has in the movie Jaws?

I want to know his occupation, was it a shark scientist something like that? I need specifics, and if you say something like Hooper drives the boat I will hunt you down and beat the crap out of you. Also for people who actually answer the question thanks! I'm looking to try and get a occupation like that, something like a marine bioligist. I'm looking for his SPECIFIC Job though.
