People act like bc I'm a mom I'm not supposed to stand up for myself?

In my opinion, it would've been better to just avoid conflict by not saying anything in reply. Saying excuse me could've possibly avoided the entire encounter and while I understand you don't want people starting crap with you in front of your daughter, it would also be wise to watch your p's and q's.
